  What makes J.Ws worse than any other organisation?

  many outsiders see good in the w.t.

  and many insiders see good in the w.t.. so is not the w:t like any other organisation based on idealisam and growth.

  there are also buddhist movements who think they own the truth. and while religions like bahá'i sound pretty tolerant, when you listen to those who left, you get a different view.

  when just leaving the JWs it might look like they are the worst thing since hitler, but after a while, talking to others who left the catholic church in a rural area, the pentecostals or maybe even worse islam, you can put it into some perspective.

  not every religion is controlling, but probably most at least try - or tried - to.

  they are not worse than most other religious groups. some religious groups are simply more controlling while others have lost a lot of ground in that area. but there are few religious groups that actually don't try to control their members in some form or another. same goes for many political movements and other organisations having some sort of universal truth.

  it's sad that many JWs don't even know about the existence of this book.

  "They took no note"

  all through my witness childhood i was constantly reminded (it seemed like at least) of the people of the "days of noah.

  " the watchtower would often point out the general dispositions the victims of the global flood had.

  "they took no note, and the were all washed away by the flood" or some respect.. as a kid this always irked me.

  i always was more concerned about all those innocent animals that were collaterally killed. and i also didn't get how noah and his wife were light skinned, having a dark skinned son... seriously, those bible stories don't make sense even to a 6 year old. but when you hear this kind of stuff AT LEAST 3 (now 2) times a week, you just get used to it.

  The Bible as inerrant and complete, or sufficient.

  i think we will agree that the wt holds it that the bible is the inerrant word of god.

  this is an idea that i just learned from a blog.. the idea is very, very simple:.

  the bible is considered "inerrant" and "sufficient".. meaning, it contains no errors, but it is also all you need for salvation.

  jesus was cool. he brought more wine when everyone was already drunk. lazarus had a huge hangover though, he didn't get up in like 3 days or so... just imagine the stench.

  How often do disassociated people go back to the organization?

  a friend disassociated in order to get divorced, hoping not to get disfellowshipped.

  some time later, he has a serious non-jw girlfriend whom he'll probably end up marrying.

  the thing is, he didn't disassociate because he no longer believed the wt doctrines.

  many of those who leave / are kicked out because of standard "wrongdoing" are still believing every single word the watchtower has ever said (which technically is impossible due to the frequent revisions). someone who leaves because of doctrinal differences or someone with an internet connection is less prone to go back though.

  the great russian composer igor stravinsky is purported to have observed: "there is no such thing as music theory all though one can be derived from the existing ouvre.".

  or, to put it another way: doctrine (music or scripture) is an artificial human construct and a derivative.

  it is a construction of the mind based on what is already there in the work itself.. .

  in the end you can just write down anything, and if it's stupid enough, people will buy it.

  Do You Ever Think You Really "Loved" God?

  i know we all have said that we "loved jehovah god" while we were witnesses, but do you think you really loved god?.

  thinking about it, i don't remember having ever said "i love god". i remember having said that i believed god was real. when talking about "love" in the congregation, it never was more than an empty word.

  part of that was because god was always depicted as a loving father, and i just hated my father...

  ahhhh!!!

  lately it enrages me to read all the bs on the watchower!!!!!!!

  when i started my fade i felt sad and quietly resentful, but now i'm just flat-out angry!!!!.

  there are way more important things to life than being angry on one of many cults. if they can still make you angry, they still got some control over you. moving on takes some time though... in the end most religions share the same "qualities" you mention.
